What we fund

The PMF welcomes applications for funding if the request is consistent with the objects of the charity:

The Company is established for the relief of sickness generally and in particular to provide and promote for the public benefit education in, and research into, all aspects of medicine and health care and in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing to promoting research into the causes and treatment of diseases to promote, undertake and publish the useful results of research and research into other aspects of health care

The Charity can only provide grants if there is funding available.  The Charity possess some funds which have restrictions, usually by the original donor, or funds which have been designated for particular projects.

How to apply

Applicants will need to provide the following information:

  • The aim of the research
  • The context of this research in the Southwest Peninsula
  • Background to the research proposed, along with information on the current literature and whether this research has been done before.
  • A lay summary of proposals and background.
  • Full details of funding for the project, and the grant you are requesting from PMF. 
  • A commitment to publish the research and acknowledge the help of PMF.
  • A commitment to help raise funds for future grants, by access to stories about the research and participating in fundraising activities.
  • A commitment to produce a short report annually (in October) of progress.
  • A short report at the end of the grant outlining progress, difficulties, outcome, and publications.

Applications must be submitted to admin@peninsulamedicalfoundation.org.uk at least 4 weeks prior to the quarterly trustee meetings, which are held in March, June, September, and December.

Applicants can seek advice from the chair of the applications committee or the chair of trustees prior to a full application, to ensure that the project is likely to succeed or that PMF has currently insufficient funds to help with the project.
