Medical School researchers work closely with all the acute hospitals in the Southwest Peninsula. Derriford Hospital is linked on site to the John Bull Building of the medical school and some of the most modern research laboratories in the UK. This provides the ideal arrangement for collaborative working. Many of the clinicians in the hospital teach and undertake research in the medical school. This is of enormous benefit to patients who have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, which are aimed at understanding their conditions in greater depth, and also to procure the latest treatments.
