We work in close collaboration with local health trusts

The Medical School researchers work closely with all the acute hospitals in the Southwest Peninsula.  Derriford Hospital is adjacent to the John Bull Building of the medical school and this provides opportunity for joint research projects.  Many of the clinicians in the hospital teach and undertake research in the medical school.  This is of enormous benefit to patients – they can participate in clinical trials to get the latest treatments, enter studies to understand more about their diseases and provide samples on which the scientists can undertake research.
